How many more faults can my Hippo develop!

My bloody hippo is now making a 'snicking' noise when changing gear....
I think it's worn driveshaft bearings on the offside rear. If I grab hold of the driveshaft I can move it about a bit so I assume this is the fault.
How hard are they to replace?
Do they pop out easy or is a press and/or special tools required?
I should get to this job when I track down the air leak in the fuel system and then the three Amigos ABS sensor fault!!!!

when you say movement in drive shaft how much

More then the other side, just feels like a slack bearing.
Hard to put a figure on it, maybe a couple of mm either way?

mmmm i have a few mm movement on my rear ns and not causing any noise or probs

Easy enough.I posted a few times how I did mine.When I ordered my shafts I also ordered drive shaft seals, but thought the old one looked ok,so I never changed it.My IRD has now leaked its oil.Now I wish I had replaced the old seal.
Something I will get around to fixing some time next week,**** I could be doing that today.

Do a search and if you don't have one already ,buy the book of beanz (haynes manwell)

edit: just noticed its your rear ,I never did one of them.

Tis the rear one, I fitted a new IRD and VCU already.
This noise is best described as a loud 'snick' but it only happens between gear changes as I clutch in.
I have searched the forum but I can't find anything about rear drive shaft bearings?

Both I suppose, sounds like the 'snick' noise when you cut something with metal cutters.

sure its not your rear sub frame mounts

Can I easily check them?
I'll go out now and look if I can...

Could be your diff mounts.

Not yet, been working away from home, will be a weekend job I expect.
Found a really good guide on how to repair the subframe mount if that's what has gone.
From others description of this fault the noise I have sounds similar.
I hate welding under cars!!!!!

I asked for that guys but it was a serious question - what is the Hippo referred to here please - I have seen the term used but don't know what vehicle it means

When the Freelander first came out a reporter made the comment they look like hippo's. LR used this idea in adverts.
