hi guys could anyone tell me the length of the gearbox dipstick on a 1994 300tdi auto es. i need to make sure that the one in my disco is the correct length. i've not had car long and it came to me with numerous little faults. Whilst doing an engine service i checked box oil level as per rave instructions to find that it appeared over full so i dropped oil and set about refilling. when i dropped oil i took out about 7 litre but when i refilled it only took about 3.5 litre to get to max mark on dipstick. according to the rave cd the box holds 9.1 litres but won't need that much on an oil change due to torqe converter still having oil in but i thought 3.5 was alot less than i'd have expected it to take. its selecting gears fine and now seems a little less sluggish than before oil change. but for peace of mind i'd really like to know that its got the correct dipstick.

Also have a odd problem with interior lights they operate perfectly on doors but randomly come on while driving i've checked all the connections on the door pins so i'm assuming it could be a body control unit prob. which i believe should be behind glovebox but i don't know what it looks like and can't get any results using search button on here. any advice appreciated. Oh and does the pin switch inside the drivers door on the lock have anything to do with the interior lights?

sorry mate should have made that clearer. yes checked as per rave disc instructions, cold engine at tickover select 1st back into neutral then check. don't know if it helps but one of the problems i've been battling with is it being very sluggish particularly when cold and could only get 75 flat out. however since i changed box oil its much better when cold and will do 90 at top end. so i'm reasonably sure it was originally overfull but i'd feel alot less worried about it if i knew that the dipstick is definetly the correct one for car..
