I went with a group of mates for a drive around a logging forest in Bala at the weekend. Amazing scenery and fantastic tracks but not for the first time one of our guys got it badly wrong on what looked like a simple track.

Driving like a COCK and rolled it

No need to drive it there

Mmmmm!! Not quite so simple. First Defender took exactly the same line!

Disagree you could traverse that lane differently and took the look how hard they are cock route.

If you look at silver lr in gripe it wasn't impassable

Every lane can be driven differently. When the car in-front of you successfully takes a line you usually follow it don't you!

I'm not defending it because I would have taken that line, just saying the driver was attempting to be flash and it can easily happen.......................unless your a faultless driver like some people!

no accounting for stupidity

Nice bit of recovery there. Learning how to drive off road is easier than learning how to get yourself out of mess.

As for the line I can see why he took it not sure I would have but hindsight is always in 20:20 vision.

I'm guessing that its not a standard height 90 either?

Just goes to show you've got to use your head and be on it all the time, not just follow the leaders exact path.

I'm only a green lane learner n I would've probably dropped the front wheel in the wrong place! (although I probs would've taken the easy route) sometimes if you're on your own it's difficult to see down the left front side, specially when you're only 5ft 4!! I'm well impressed with the recovery!

I don't follow pack, decide for myself

I'm just editing footage from before this happened and when we drove up the same section there are loads of tire marks up that bank. Maybe not quite as high but not far off it. Looks like a lot of people have been successfully navigating the track that way for quite some time.

It's all very well to say you don't follow other people and I agree to some extent but there must also be a school of thought that if the guy in-front of you successful navigates an obstacle with no issue taking a certain line, your probably a fool for doing something different and untested.

All this makes it sound like I'm excusing the driving. I'm just saying it's far easier done than people seem to think

I'm saying least angle possible and angles without stopping
