Hi, new to the forum i've had my 2000 diesel freelander for nearly 4 years.
It's done nearly 150,000 miles now so not too surprising that the IRD seems on the verge of failing.
I did try to be prepared for this by buying a spare IRD a while back but now I've had a good look at both of them I noticed the coolant pipes on my spare go off in a different direction to the ones on my car.

I am wondering if this is actually a V6 IRD so question is how do you tell the difference between the two?

They is metal silver.

Are there any codes on it that you could search for on the web?

Seems I'm not the only one with a knackered prop boot then....
Yep. Popular problem and LR stopped doing the replacement kits some years ago.  Replacement prop (includes the boot) for the front on a v6 is eggspensive to say the least.

Ere's the water pipes on a 2001 v6 Freelander 1 IRD.
