To my absolute astonishment I have found that after removing some fresh waxoil covering my chassis, thoughtfully done by the last owner, I have some holes in it. You are already doubting that anyone would do this but yes it is true.
What thickness of mild steel plate do I need to get ?
How big an overlap do I need to cover the holes ?
What gauge of MIG wire is the best for welding on a landy ?
Thanks to anyone who can help.
Ps.
If you are the last owner of my Landy you can Pi** off cause I don't need no help from you.

2mm or 3mm if you want to. and .8mm mild steel wire over lap should be large enough to cover the hole which should be cut back until you reach good metal. alternatively cut patch to just fit in hole and weld flush with existing chassis. Grind weld flat and once waxoiled again repair will be invisible

Thanks bustersbus I have checked out the link you gave.
Anyone with any other tips on mig welding under a Landy would be gratefully received.
I haven't done any proper welding for years, even though I pay BOC rent on my argoshield bottle to stand in the corner of my shed.
I can weld metal together on a flat bench but is there any good tips on weding vertical bits etc under the Landy ?

nae probs Morgey;)
Ah reckon it's just a case of gettin' yerself into a position that yer comfy with, and out of the way of drippin' hot bits!!! If ye balls the vertical bits up, then just grind them back and try again;) :D

YUS! Eres one!

when yer weldin ! dunt lie underneith the bit yer weldin.

Cos when the waxoil burst into flames an drip on yer tee shurt, yer immediate instinct is t brush it off yer tee shurt!

which smarts a bit if yer int wearin gloves an leaves yer with moltern underseal stickin t yer fingers!

Not that i'd do summat so daft !
