hill descent

hi all i have just got my self a freelander today it is a 1998 with a 2.0lt rover in it.
i have had a play and cant seem to get the hill descent to work. i have followed every thing in the owners book and still no lights on dash.
when i start it 1 green light comes on and one amber but then turns off,
and help would be very much welcome.

I put it in in neutral and no lights tried 1st and R still no lights

1st and drive forward or engaged? or just 1st on the box with the clutch depressed?

Hey just looked under the gator of the gear knob to find the wires not connected. Any ideas of replacing repairing them??

they worn or but disconnected.might be covering another problem

connect em up, see what happens

One was worn or out and the other was in. What could go wrong if that was meant to be out??

I expect the switch may have faulty therefore showing the dash light perm, maybe the previous owner disconnected it to remove the dash warning. The worst that can happen if you connect it is that it might not work. But never done it, so try it.
Connect it, select HDC, 1st gear and drive slowly.

just remember that it disengages while you touch any of the pedals
