Hi hope this helps anyone else with the same problem my 2001 1.8 was running fine till yesterday when started from cold the revs would go too 2000 revs and a bit more after checking for air leaks etc I found the camshaft cover was leaking oil onto rear spark plug this was causing a short I cleaned the oil out of the spark plug hole and its now running fine just have to get a new gasket
