Hello all,

Tomorrow I pick up my 'new' Disco :D

It's a 1999 V8 ES Auto in Kinversand with beige leather, 7 seats and (thanks goodness ;)) an LPG kit.

I have bought it unseen from somebody I know who has been very honest about the condition. I am gambling that this is better than buying from somebody just down the road who I have never met before!

My last two cars were German and built like tanks. I am assuming I will need a sense of humour owning an older LR product but hope to be proved wrong!

I already know a few things don't work. Once I get my hands on the vehicle, I will do some searching and perhaps post a query. The engine, cooling, gearbox, brakes etc. are all supposed to be in excellent order.

The main intention is to use as a spacious family vehicle. I would like to do an LR Centre course and try a little light off roading but the car has under-slung gas tanks so I assume I will be a bit restricted in this regard.

If you have any advice for a total 4X4/LR noob for the 4 hour drive home, now is the time to post it!

Otherwise, I only have one question: Do I call it a 'car', a 'truck', or what? I am assuming there is some sort of convention ...

:welcome2:what ever you wanna call it I've referd to mine car, truck, and sometimes some unrepeatable stuff,

had mine coming up to a year in april best motor i've had nice and comfy, other motors i've had and done a long journey used to get out and stretch, not done that with this one yet because you are sitting up right i suppose

Enjoy your erm....vehicle (I'm not sure whether I prefer car or truck for any of the three Disco's that I've owned myself?) :)

Well, I picked it up last night and am very pleased! It seems to have been really well looked after and everything apart from the rear sunroof and driver's seat heating works really well. HK stereo so good that I have abandoned thoughts of changing it - will just get a Sony/Belkin cassette adapter to add my iphone tracks to the mix.

Was very happy to see that the LPG system is 2 X 40l tanks where the petrol tank used to be and a small new petrol tank added. This means that there are no clearance issues for if I try it off road. Unfortunately only one tank seems to fill/power the car which needs sorting ASAP.

I love the colour. My kids think it's great. SWMBO hates it but I reckon she will come round ;)
