HELP!...TC, battery and hill decent light on + loss of power steering!

HELP PLEASE!

While driving the mrs' 02 freelander td4, the battery light came on and I heard a funny electrical type noise coming from under the steering wheel area.

I was on the motorway so couldn't pull over. Upon slowing down for the slip road, the TC and hill decent warning light came on. At this point I lost power steering!

I was about 200 yards from my parents house so I carefully drove around the corner. The noise continued, I pulled in, turned the car off, back on again and the lights were off.

The 3 lights then came back on though and there was still no steering.

I switched the car off and now it won't start!

I'm currently awaiting the RAC but if anyone could shed any light in the mean time it'd be much appreciated

Alternator belt gone.

UPDATE! She has indeed chucked the alternator belt off.

Shon the torch in before the RAC man arrived and it's gone lol

At least it's not an expensive fix!
