Hi guys,

I have recently bought a freelander 2004 from a garage including a 3 month warranty. They sold it with a new mot and service. The car has only done 36000 miles which is genuine as I done a lot of checks, though the service history is sketchy.
I decided I would have a 120k mile service done on it so I could have piece of mind, though unfortunately I was told the fuel injector pump was leaking into the sump and break lines were corroded. Not too fussed about the brake lines, but the fuel injector pump is pricey.
On discussing it with the garage I purchased it from, they decided they would take a look at it....believe me they made that a very hard conversation, so hard that I am very sceptical they will do it and if they do, it will be a poor job. They also live 45 minutes from me.
Would anyone know where I stand as far as: Can I force them to let me go to another garage? If not, do they have to supply us with a courtesy car?

Thanks
Lorne

Never mind the warranty, they have to rectify the car under consumer law as it's not fit for purpose. I doubt you will get anywhere with asking for a courtesy car though.
If you suspect it should not have passed the MOT, report them to VOSA.

I agree with Datatek & suggest you contact Trading Standards for their advice, I have a feeling that you can get the work done elsewhere & charge it to the dealer but don't quote me! Sellers are very quick to bump-up the price of their cars on the grounds of 'we have to provide a warranty' but that doesn't make them any happier to honour it. Good luck with the case.
