Hi All,

Wow, I have created such lovley debate. We got the car back yesterday. All is great. The ECU was damaged, and needed 3 new components and a reprogram. Also a posh relay (as the mechanic described it). All in including all the fault finding it was £300 which really good as far as I'm concearned. The chap spent a long time with it, the ECU was repaired off site at £90+vat and the relay was about £40+vat from land rover so he charged less than £150 for his time and got straight to the problem without changing needless items.

I am not sure how it happened, but it was related to jump starting. I have jump started lots of cars in my time, and have never had a problem. Next time I will be more careful. We have got a specialist car starter but it just didn't have enough charge in it to start the TD4 so I jump started with my other car.

The garage / mechanic was infield 4x4 in newbold coleorton, near Ashby, Leicestershire if anybody is local.

Anyway, thanks for all your help and comments, Stuart
