Help me decide!!!

Well here we are, i've got a range rover 2.5dt 97, i've had it 5years+ about 4 months ago it became hard to start when hot....so... reading the forum i fitted the hot fix box. It had also developed a diesel leak from the injector distributor pump.

The injector pump it worn and now leaking.

Now my dilemma is ....the range rover is only realistically worth around £1000-£1500 the reconditioned pump is £600+vat and £200+vat to fit.
do i sell/part ex or do i repair the pump??????

Other info to consider...5 years of good running....149000 miles....nice to drive....tows granny, the **** pot and the outside loo!! and until 4 months ago never let me down.

What do i do.

been quoted 600+vat for recon and 900+vat new, so "j the range" which do i go for?? and the price are from brookwells in boveytracey is the good??

Fix it, if you buy another secondhand car you may still be in for unexpected bills. Better the devil you know.

If you like the car and it does everything you want, I think you should keep it and get it repaired. I would fit a recon unit myself, if it comes from a reputable source, it should have been done properly and should come with a warranty.

Around here (Portugal) there are some ingenious folks that will fix the leakage from an injection pump with just a new set of o-rings. At first everyone is quoted with a new or recon pump but some have been able to get it fixed at a much cheaper price.
But then again, I don't know what's your pump's problem..

As Datatek said and others are basically saying, fix it, go either the recon route or a warranted good secondhand unit, I'm guessing from advice 'J the Range' has given you and the fact he says he has pm'd you, he has put you onto a 'know reputable used parts seller' he gave me a couple of weeks ago, I've not needed his man yet as I've been too busy to sort my problem but when the time comes I will be giving his man a call! (If you read this J Thank you )

I think your chap does deserve at least one second chance and so follow the concensus that you should go with the fix. (IE better the devil you know) It's gonna hurt like hell of course, but try to think of all the good times you had together already, when he has not let you down.
