Hello people i need abit of help i have a 110 defender.

Does anyone know how you remove a bottom door pillar bracket from the bulk head.

I have stripped all the wing and skirt off and i have a new one ready but i dont know how you remove the old one from bulk head? does it slot out? do i have to cut it out and if so how ?

Any advise would be great and photos would be brilliant if you have done one your self

Thanks :D

Its spot welded all down three sides.
Lots of pics here:

this is what a removed one looks like with evidence of all the drilled out spot welds..... lots of 'em!

Bit of an old thread revival but a couple of questions

B3NN377 did you manage this while the bulkhead was still on the vehicle or did you need to remove it?
ARC, from your experience do you think its possible to do without removing the bulkhead from the car? if so can you give any tips on what to do.

Failed the MOT and digging into it last night looks like I have exactly the same problem. trying to figure out the easiest way to fix it without pulling the car
apart completely.

Might be easier to replace the door pillar section at the same time. Weld the new pillar section to the new bracket, cut the old pillar away 1/2 way up, then lap weld.

You can do this easily with the bulkhead on the vehicle. But don't go by that pic for the spot welds as they appear random on each person who has replaced it. I had to cut most of the front bulkhead open a flap to see the welds then weld it back up.

The best tip is try and find the spot welds, I used a wire wheel grinder which was the worst thing as it smoothed the lot... You just need the surface of the paint taking off. Just drill them out and the foot will drop out and new one slots in.
