Hi All
I have an ongoing issue with my recent purchase, RR 4.4 v8 HSE, 2002
It has a KME system with a 95 ltr tank. From cold, I can drive about 1-2 miles before the engine management light starts to flash and the car starts to judder, the light then goes solid (fault codes logged) it then seems to smooth out but with a general lack of power, maybe the ECU reverts to some "default" setting?
From chatting with various people it seems as if the automatic petrol to lpg changeover is happening before the water temperature gets high enough to heat the evaporator thus the LPG is being injected as a mist rather than a gas causing mixture issues and misfiring.
What could be the potential causes and fixes of this?
Ive also noticed a lower than average idle on gas with stalls could this be related?
Thanks in advance for your help
Kevin

I have a KME on my 4.4 and have no problems. Take it to a LPG fitter and they will sort the switch over temp for you. Not sure where you are but the guy i used is great and he's a KME supplier and installer. Had an idle prob with mine and 2mins on his laptop and it was sorted.

the point i was trying to make is simply, check the simple stuff first ie does the vapouriser get hot enough, if it does,nt then why not? etc i have seen an awfull lot of bodged/crap/f+cked up installations by "professionals" which work fine when brand new and newly installed,BUT 5 years down the line are fubar.

 it takes 5 years for 'bodged/crap/f+cked up installations' to **** up? dont understand that one

well simply this a lot of lpg fitters like to use "t" pieces on the heater circuit, now thats fine when eveything is brand spanking, but when eveything starts to silt up over the years(hard water etc)then the water will take the path of least resistance which may or may not be either your heater circuit or vapouriser circuit or even neither.

as an example how often do rangie owners swap out radiators to cure an overheating problem,ie the rads will not absorb heat,a problem i gather which is just as bad on the l322

as already stated...its proberly just switching over to gas far too early...man with lap top should sort this out..

(you have a modern v8 injection system,it is fairly sensitive to things around it ,(unlike early rover injection systems, that will tolerate just about anything)..it knows something is amiss...)..my toyota v8 rangie has a good sequential gas system fitted,(by me)...it complains like fuc£ if i set it to change over to gas too early..i now have it set to 45c change over, but really i expect 50+would be better...
also...lpg contains some heavy oils in it..if allowed to change over before up to temp,(thus oils still thick and sticky)these oils will gum up modern gas injector rails..i know this cos been told by various installers.(when tying to sort missfire)..AND HENSE by experience..ie striping down my sticking injectors to find gooy oil in them..

also...and importantly..i have a good wide band air/fuel meter(data logging) and visual gauge fitted and from this have noted....your engine will be running seriously weak mixture on gas till its up to running temp..(cos the vaporiser aint doing its job till hot)..this can hurt your lovely engine...

When you say the management light stays on, have you got the fault code this may help to narrow down your fault.Sorry i dont know much about vehicle lpg systems, but have a very good knowlegde of your the petrol side of your engine.

Solved!
Took it down to Pioneer LPG in Rochdale, (cheers guys!!) 130mile hike but worth it. 3 hours on the laptop resetting the maps etc and now runs smooth as Luther vandross.
Apparently the injector nozzles were too big and also clogged up with **** as the filters hadnt been changed in forever.
Drilled out smaller nozzles and remapped the whole system, fixed!!
