Help finding obsolete part

I have mucked up slightly...

Sarah came back from work complaining that the plastic rubbing strip on the side of her FL1 had got stuck and pulled off slightly. I had a look online and a new part is £37, which isn't the end of the world.

So I tried to fix the existing rubbing strip, failed and pulled it off so the door would open.

Now I find out that STC7865 is no longer made by Land Rover any more...

Help!

Sorry if i am missing the point here James..

But what about a scrappy's ring around/trip?.

Looks self adhesive? A bitter pill but you may have no choice but to buy new, any you prise off a scrapped car could be just as bad as the one you have.

Or remove all of them?

Haha, I am not sure it would look good with none!

I'll probably have to stick the old one back on, I'm just trying to avoid doing that. I can't get a new one, that is the problem!

Well the one I took off isn't too bad, so I think I will have to stick it back on. But apparently once they have come off they are a nightmare to get back on as the metal strips in them bend.

LRDirect have just got back to me:

"Unfortunately the part STC7865 you are looking for is now obsolete and no longer manufactured.
I have tried all our suppliers including Land Rover UK and no company has any remaining stock."

Sadly they order those from LR and they don't make them any more!

The closest I have found are these Freelander 3-Door Body Side Mouldings - Bearmach BFA 7001 at www.rimmerbros.co.uk. No idea what the quality will be like though

that's a shame thought they may have had some old stock left

think Brit car is another one

have u looked on ebay as maybe someone may have a new one on there shelves ??

always drives u nuts when they say they have one then find out its obsolete

like the front trim on a 3 door roof rails

one is available the other isn't

Yeah, there is 1 on ebay, but in the USA!

Britcar also have to order it from LR by the look of it.

I'm thinking I am gonna have a go at fitting the old one back on. Better get some double sided foam stuff

Britcar have always come through for me for obsolete parts, have they said it's definitely unavailable? They keep posting about buying up dealers old stock so you may still get lucky.

No they haven't, but it says next to it that that it is a direct from LR part.

I'll drop them an email and see what they say.

Have just spoken to a contact in the dealer network Jim. They are phoning me back. There may be some hidden away residual stock knocking around in somebodys parts dept.

Give LRP Camborne a ring 01209 612799 he always appears to keep plenty of stock for older vehicles.
