Hi,
Just got myself a Discovery 2 V8 a couple of weeks ago. I have had two Series IIIs many years ago. They were both great cars and took me through some very rough terrains. Almost upon having taken ownership of the Disco the front prop shaft blew cracking the automatic gearbox on its way out onto the highway at 130 km/h. I'm in desperate search of a second hand matching automatic gearbox and prop shaft at the moment. Any help or pointers would be highly appreciated. Especially as regards possible compatible boxes from other Range Rovers maybe. There seem to be more of them on offer.
Thanks to everyone.

Bad luck. There are often Landys being broken advertised on here. You may be lucky to find the parts you need. It would be possible to have them brought out to you - there seem to be lots of small companies or individuals running delivery services across Europe - a friend had loads of stuff sent to Latvia a while back. You might want to try contacting my local independent Landrover dealer, Andrew Feltham in Somerset, England. I know he has lots of second-hand spares, but can't be sure of what he's got. I do know that he's honest and won't sell you something which is no good. His email is [email protected] I'll tell him you may be in touch.
Hope you get it sorted.
Nigel

Hi,
Thanks a lot. I have just sent him an email with the car details. I hope we can work something out.
I'll keep you posted.
Have a great day

Andrew's the only guy I know who keeps a good stock of second-hand parts who I could recommend. There are some, obviously to avoid but I can't say who on an open forum without getting sued!. It's probably worth giving more details here - eg year of vehicle and any code number of gearbox. Also worth doing a Google search for Landrover breakers and independent dealers. I did a quick search and found these guys, but I don't know anything about them http://www.landrovergearboxuk.co.uk/ Some of the Landrover magazines, eg LRO and LRM carry lots of adverts. If you can't get the magazines locally, then they have websites. Otherwise, perhaps an owners club.
Good luck,
Nigel

I understand. ;-)

The automatic gearbox currently in the vehicle is a 4HP-22
Serial number: 1809179
Model number: 1043 010 765
I am looking for a good and reliable low-mileage automatic gearbox with converter for my 2001 Land Rover Discovery 2 V8 ES. I would also need the front prop shaft for the same car.

I have been combing ebay.co.uk and I have checked the classifieds in LRO but to no avail. It is almost incredible.
