Hi All,

Just a quick introduction to say hello.

I currently have a 1994 Discovery V8 with an early OMVL LPG kit, but looking to change to a P38 DSE in the next few weeks. Don't use the LPG much as prices around here are around 80ppl and mpg comes in around 8.5mpg! Petrol returns around 16mpg so tends to be more cost effective. (combination of Devon's hills and stop-start traffic)

Had the Disco since 2005 but now getting to that stage where as many things are broken as work and that dreaded metal eating virus is starting to spread... Final straw was over Christmas when an intermittent fuelling/starting issue became permanent. After a trip courtesy of the AA to garage for new pump (I was working and didn't have the time) the issue popped up again a few days later - just prior to holidays . Thankfully at home this time, so after a bit of investigation, issue appears to be ECU as fuel relay is good and has power to coil, but no/insufficient return path (via ECU I think?) to energise the relay. Wired in a manual fuel pump circuit for time being so all is well, but now more like pre-flight checks on a Cessna: Ignition - check, Immobiliser - check, fuel circuits -check, starter... :D Chassis and rolling gear is good however so wondering about using as a donor for one of those Dakar4x4 kits - anyone know if they're still going?

Had a couple of Range Rover Classics (3.5 & 3.9 V8's) prior to Disco and a succession of Jags prior to that (Sovereign, XJS, 2 x XJ40 & custom soft-top XJR). Mostly all self-maintained, and thus never being one to shy away from a challenge, feel it's time to battle my wits/patience against the best the P38 can throw at me! I feel therefore it only fair to warn those of you on the P38 forum that you might be hearing from me quite soon...

Oh, and currently rebuilding a 1980's Fletcher Arrowbolt too... There has to be a V8 in the family somewhere. :)

Cheers for now,

Rob

Ah well, the deed is done and my bank account now empty...

I didn't get a DSE in the end as a nice 4.6 HSE with LPG came up locally and I got sucked in again by the petrol-head voices in my head....

Now have a seemingly very clean example that appears to have been well maintained - albeit quite high mileage at 185K . We're having a sweepstake at home as to what the first bill will be and when!
