The front height sensor covers / guards on my P38 have just about disintegrated. in fact the last time I took the sensors off I just left the guards off to be fabricated or bought at a later date. The road to hell was paved with good intentions and of course I never got round to it. Are they necessary if we're not intending to do heavy off roading?
Opinions welcome.

They are made of a fibros heatproof material (if I remember)
They do become all fluffy around the edges;).
I do know they come awfully close to the exhaust on a V8 both sides. If you have been running like it for a while then I guess no issue;).
Think most would say no issue without, I have both mine so couldn't really say:).

Certainly needed as a heat shield on the exhaust side of the diesel.
.
Great minds.............I splashed out on a new bracket and heat shield for the off side. I suppose the greatest danger of heat damage would be when stuck in slow moving traffic. Might try and patch the other side up but I don't think it does much on the diesel.

I re-made the N/S one with thin alloy sheet.

New bracket and guard for the OSF arrived yesterday, about £45 total including postage. I used them as a pattern to fabricate the same for the NSF which is much easier to get to. The brackets are the same but the cover/ guard is the handed. Didn't have a bean can handy so I made the cover out of some ally sheet that was lying around. Really pleased with it till I realised that I had made it the same as the OS one and had to bash it about to make it the opposite hand..
