Evening all,

I'm ready for a new clutch and not sure what to go for.

My last one was a Borg & Beck and it's only lasted just over a year. I don't do any off roading and I certainly don't thrash her about as she's a 20 year old 200Tdi 110 CSW.

So, what would folk recommend? I'm skint so would like to keep cost down but at the same time I don't want to fit something cheap and nasty that will need swapping again in a year.

I've seen a Britpart heavy duty clutch on Paddock's at around 50 quid with VAT. Has anyone used one before? I've had mixed experiences with Britpart stuff in the past but after looking round the net it turns out that a few other folk have had the same problem with Borg & Beck clutches as me.

Any advice would be much appreciated, cheers, J.

I run a Britpart HD clutch in the disco, its used primarily for off road and is for ever pulling slittys out the **** and tbf other landies too, its done about 8000kms so far and seems to be holding up ok, it gets abused almost every time it goes out and as i said 2 diffs, 3 UJs, a rear doughnut, 4 wheel bearings and a partridge in a pear tree later its still going strong. (uh-oh kiss of death maybe)

Any clutch should be lasting longer than that, especially with only light duty use - worth taking a look at the whole installation to see if there's anything there that's killing it or else you might be posting up the same thread this time next year :)

Thanks for the replies folks.

I had a look underneath today and...

There is oil leaking from the gearbox, bell housing and transfer box!

There has always been leaks underneath but they seem worse?!

Am I right in thinking that the gear box needs to come out to get to the engine crank seal?

Is oil/fluid coming out of the wading plug hole in the bellhousing?
If so its either the rear crankshaft oil seal (engine oil) OR gearbox (atf/mtf red fluid) OR hydraulic fluid from the clutch slave (brake fluid)

Not sure as it looks pretty messy underneath.

I'll got out tomorrow and spray some engine degreaser underneath and see if I can locate the source of the leak.

I've also got to find out why my starter motor has decided not to turn the engine over properly! I reckon it's and earth problem. The joys of Landy ownership! :boom:
