hi done a search but failed to get the info i need - i understand that you access the heater inlet via the passenger foot well but where is the other end ????
As in where does it get its air from ( there must be a hole of some description under the bonnet somewhere )
My blower has stopped and the ignition lights are dimming when you switch it on & the fuse is fine !
Is there any way of getting to the fan to free it up without taking the dash & all out ?
I know this has been covered but has anyone any suggestions or know where the inlet is located ?
thanks again

in a word NO not on 200

got it out - it was jammed, so i used wd40 to free it up - put it back in & still nothing - going to test the switch in the morning then its ring round the scrap yards to try & find a 200 TDI - guess i will just have to hope the one i get from the scrappy isent broken too !!!
Im surprised no one has come up with a solution to this yet ?
Could i get the original motor fixed ? if so has anyone an idea what it would cost ?
Does anyone know if the same motors are used in anything else ?
Just seems a bit silly as this is a common fault taking a huge risk removing one from a scrapper to find its the same as mine - as it aint no 5 minute job
What do i do guys - any ideas ?

Have you got the motor out of the heater box yet sierrafery? I've nearly got the heater box apart but am struggling as it is holding fast around the main air intake flap which fits around motor housing? About to chuck it out the bl..dy window:frown:

you will find the control switch mechanism is rivetted either side ( hidden under the little foam bit ) which stops the two halfs coming appart - i was there for ages ****ing about, swearing & cursing quite a bit ! till i realised lol, i just drilled them out !
got mine out - ready to go for testing & hopefully a rewind !

I found those eventually:D The hardest bit i found was freeing the recirculation flap which sits around the motor.... got there eventually!!

Pulled the old motor out and it was jammed solid, cant even turn it by hand. After buying a new motor i wish i'd had the old one refurbed as the new one is slightly different with the resistor attached to the motor body not mounted separately as on mine. The motor body is also a bit smaller than the old one so needs a bit of packing to fix it in.

One crazy bit of logic having brought the motor from a well known landy part supplier it arrived with a different plug on a much shorter lead with a sticker on the box saying "without adaptor lead". I've now had to ring them up again and place a second order for the adaptor lead, surely they would have the common sense to link the two products on the website as I would have thought most people would need it:doh:
