Lots of info, data & threads regarding heated seat failures and how to repair seat squab elements.

But has anyone successfully fixed the element in the seat back.

Both my seats had the "paper clip fix" but neither seat back gets hot (fuses OK) both elements test open circuit so suspect they have burnt out as the paper clip fix bypasses the thermal switch.

Any help and advice on dismantling and repairing the seat back element will be appreciated.

I did mine some years ago on the DSE. I did both seats in a day so it can't have been that bad. Fiddly with the hog rings but as someone else said on here, a couple of pairs of pliers did the trick, Or just use strong cable ties. I do remember the original heating elements being bonded to the foam and also the seat covering was stuck to the element. I didn't stick mine back in and, whilst they used to get warm eventually, it did take some time.
The above was including the back. I didn't fix it, just renewed both elements. It can't have been that bad a job if I did both seats in a day - and I'd never done one before either.

The paper clip fix is not a FIX, it's a dangerous bodge up. Would you fit a 100 amp fuse in your house because your 5amp one kept blowing? By by-passing the thermostst something is bound to burn out eventually.
