Osram nightbreaker or Philips bluevision.

Consider fitting spot lights.

You don't want a defender. You'd like to arrive at your destination without unecessary aches and pains, or deafness from wind noise stemming from the resistance pushing a brick through the air causes!

thanks a set of spots is next on my list. i have found a weird thing on my f.l though. if you hold the indicator stalk just before it clicks for the high beam you get both the high and low at the same time and a lot better view of the road which makes me think why they didnt make both to run together if it gives more light. oh and i cant buy a defender as i know who both my parents are. lol.

You can get HID upgrade kits on fleabay for about £170... They are the bollocks.. Expensive, but worth the investment if youre keeping the hippo for a while.... Brighter standard bulbs are an option, but in my experience they arent that much better than the usual ones..

Hid is the best upgrade by far
Had a set on both of my freelanders
And there only £70 not £160 !!
About the same price as paying for stupid halfrauds lamps !! Lol

They don't wire them together as the lamp would get too hot with both filliaments on in the lamp. The td4 has separate high and low beams and they both run on together if desired.
If you get a hid kit you will need the "high / low" type which is for the earlier freelanders with only one lamp for high and low beams

the standard fit "megabright" ones whether halfords or osram are a lot brighter and you will notice a big difference - bear in mind they don't last long so you might be paying out 20 notes or so fairly often.

don't get a defender - everyone will think you're a pig farmer.

ahh i understand. might just get a massive set of spots and wire as a seperate beam will just position them to shine down abit so as not to annoy oncoming traffic. only prob with that though is i had the same set up on my terrano and people saw the spots and even though they didnt dazzle they still flashed me as they thought i had my high beam on. they soon stopped when i flashed them back though. i wonder why people think just because youve got spots lit up that you must be running the high beams as well. havnt they heard that you can wire them in to other settings. yet i never had the prob with front fogs being on on the beemer. weird.

and found a kit on ebay for only £40 !!! same price as a couple of halfords normal lamps !!

heres the link

Bi - Xenon HID Conversion kit H4 Hi / Lo 6000K & 8000K | eBay

6000K is the best colour choice from experience :D

not sure where yu got that from hippoo - it is highly likely that HID kits which are currently illegal will be an MOT failure as of next year and Halfrauds new +120 headlight bulbs are 2 for £28.99 (BOGOFF), depending what type you get.

****ing hell how many times in one day.

DO NOT BUY **** LIKE THIS WITHOUT RESEARCH FIRST

Only total idiots buy 6000k or higher HIDs. 4100 or 4300k is what you want and usually cheaper.

Higher k outputs actually produce less light, ie lower lumens. They are also coloured light rather than white/day light. And worst of all the higher k bulbs are the ones that cause all the dazzling glare.

It's idiots who can't be arsed to do a little research first that are causing the police to crack down and ticket people with HIDs in non approved lamps.

No need to start getting rowdy about it lol
The 6000k colour was recommended by the company when I bought mine - any less and they start looking yellow !

I have factory fitted xenons in my range rover and they still dazzle oncoming drivers!! Lol At least I can see where I am going :p

The company you bought them from either knows jack ****, or they where conning you.

Less than 6000k are "white" light, or daylight. And in case you need proof, look at the sun, it's sorta yellow ;)

6000k are blue and not day light at all, and it's the high frequency colour that causes the glare.

Glare caused by factory HIDs is different, on an RR partly due to the height of the vehicle, but also as the lamps move up and down the beam also moves, this is no different to a halogen, just a lot brighter.

6000k will dazzle and glare even when stationary.

do not buy the hid ones as they do not confirm with the mot and you can get busted they need a compleat headlamp as the old headlamp will give out a compleatly different pattern and you will have people flashing you mind you will able to see then
