i dont think my hdc works, my light dosnt come on when i try to engage it, any ideas? does this mean my freelander might have had the prop shaft changed to convert it to 2wd? :( i hope not, anything i can check or anything? baring in mind im not that mechanically minded, does the hdc have a particular way to engage? any ideas or help would be awesome...thank in advance :) :D

Your hdc switch is the electrical side of things which slows your Freelander down if hdc is selected and it's going down hill too fast. You have to be in 1st or reverse gear for this to happen. The post above will help you to see if the wires have come off the switch - assuming you have a manual gearbox - popular problem hdc wires coming off the switch mounted on the gear stick.

Look under you Freelander to see if the props are missing.

You need to acquire a mechanical mind a bit sharpish! If you look under the vehicle and you can see a shaft from the back of the engine to the rear axle, then its been removed!:)
