 Can anyone pls help with some info? New Freebee owner, i would like to know how to engage HDC correctly as mine does not seem to work. I do not have a owners manual so cant check there! Do you select 1st gear then push down the Hdc selector or push down then 1st?? I know you think me stupid as i have had discos for the past 12yrs, but this is different. it's a 1.8k series 1998 brill landy been looked after well, BUT the prop was missing upon purchase, does this make a difference with the Hdc, i am currently waiting to fit a new prop. As i live in Bulgaria your help will be of great help, telbg Thanks :)

Hi Telbg,

As far as i an aware HDC will only be active in first or reverse gears. When active, the HDC light on the dashboard will come on. IF you are not in the correct gear, the indicator light will flash.

To use HDC :

Stop the car at the top of the hill that you wish to descend, select first gear and switch on HDC. Get the car moving slowly. As you go down the hill, the car will try and maintane a speed of no more than 5 mph and will activate the brake on the car when it needs to.

The ca'rs brakes will work as normal when the pedal is pushed. If the clutch is disengaged for 30 seconds the HDC light will flash, 60 seconds cause the fault light to come on.

You can leave HDC turned on whilst driving around off road.

Hope this helps

Dave

Keep you feet off all the pedals, if you touch the brakes it overrides the system, as with the clutch, if you touch the throttle it speeds the vehicle up (as normal), which defeats the object of HDC which is trying to slow the vehicle.

You can select HDC at any speed. even 70 mph on the motorway, but nothing will happen (apart from the light flashing) until you select 1st gear.

In an Auto you can be driving in "2" with HDC selected, when you pull the lever back to "1" HDC will start working even in 2nd and slow the vehicle down to select 1st gear.
HDC doesn't work in Command Shift.
