Hi everyone,

I am new to this so please take it easy on me. First post first Land Rover.

Driving to work this morning just accelerated to 60mph on the motorway and the car starts and looses all power. Managed to get a recovery out to collect me and I got home safely.

Got an engine system fault of HDC. Car won't start tried disconnecting the battery for 60 minutes then reconnecting it. Same problem.

This is my first post and I'll probably make a few mistakes along the way. All advice welcome.

Thanks

Welcome to the asylum. @gstuart maybe your best bet on here as he knows the D3 inside out so hopefully he'll be along soon.
HDC or hill descent control shouldn't stop the engine working as it only works in low range & below a certain speed, about 10mph I think & isn't engine related. Have you got or had a decent code reader on it ? As it will be the first thing to do to narrow things down, all the best.

Hi
plus 1 what’s been mentioned by @Andy Warren with regards to the codes as, indeed HDC error wouldn’t stop it starting unless maybe water has got into the ECM module that’s hidden behind the battery , the TCM module also sits next to the ECM

So would be good to get the codes read by a decent reader and then let us know what they are plse

Yes, apologies to all other members who know more about the D3 than me. I often feel LZ is like the Borg from star trek, a proper collective of info (& not just on the LR front) as I've certainly learnt alot being on here (top totty for one I've often wondered what females look like with no clothes on) 😂 😂 😂 😂. Hope the op can come along with so more info so he can get a fix for his truck, all the best.

Index fingers crossed ref the op with codes

Did also wonder seeing it cut out if the rear fuel belt slipped or snapped but would assume there would be a noise or evidence

Other things like fuel pump failing ??

Indeed we should know more when hearing from the op

Good call Gary on the rear fuel pump belt, often neglected and would show zero fuel pressure on a code read. X2 days and op not returned

many thks mate as was just trying to think what would cause the engine to cut out , hopefully the crank also hasn’t gone

Indeed saw that the last time he visited was 2/11 @11.42am

maybe the op is waiting for a code reader ?
