Stumbled across this on Ebay earlier and wondered what peoples opinions on it are:

Compared with most other ground anchors its a good price and I like the fact it can be stored flat.

But has anyone got any experience of this design or any comments as to its likely strength or effectiveness as a ground anchor. Its not one of those things I have ever needed, but......

It looks a bit flimsy to me. It would be good value if it works tho.

In fairness, it is actually solid heavy weight steel plate, unlike the more fashionable higher priced ones which have hollow tubes and thin plates at the end.

Biggest issue I can think off are trying to retrieve the blade if it digs in deep as the the handle would probably come off first

May get one and see how it goes....

The holes in the blade will take shackles, rope or chain to vehicle, drive off and pull it up, no hassle! Just make sure you drive the opposite way to how it went in!

I actually like the look of it, very simple, though the blade looks flimsy I think that's more 'cos it's quite large, hard to tell without references or sizes ..

The first one is NOT Army never seen them in the stores or on any recovery course i have done.
The second one with the plates and pins is the issued ground anchor that you get. But you get 3 plates and 24 pins

I agree with gazdav I'm in the army and have never seen one of these and I work with the recovery mechanics. The second is the army one from years ago.
