I have nearly finished servicing my 1995 300tdi and I have been reading conflicting info on weather you should use grease or 80w90 on the ball joints.

So:
1) will my ball joints have grease nipples to use a grease gun or a drain and fill hole?
2) what grease should I use (e.g the general stuff you can pick up at Halfords?)

Cheers!!

My guess would be that you are referring to the swivels shiny globe-like things), rather than ball-joints?

If that's right you should should use "1 shot grease" which comes in sachets, one for each side and you pour it in, a bit like toothpaste, rather than using a grease gun. Available from LR parts suppliers should as Paddocks.

They used to use EP oil but the seals are good enough to keep it in !!!!

Whilst on the subject,We had this what's best regarding the swivel housings as in do you fit gaiters and fill with grease or do you leave them off altogether and let the elements take their course.
