Last week the old girl, that's the Rangie not the wife, started to drop on the nearside front when parked. Ordered a new set of four Dunlop springs which have now arrived. It is due to go to a friends garage this Sat to have then fitted. Now for the advice, got home from work today to find her completly on the bumpstops, there is no fault showing at the moment on dash i.e. 35 mph max, garage is approx 3 miles away. So can I drive her that distance on the bumpstops and if so how do I stop fault showing on dash so I don't have to have things reset?

It'll be bouncy, so aslong as it is not down fast duel C/W's or the M/way you should be ok, just take it easy is all....

The system will go into a soft fault(?) if it doesn't detect a change of height within X time....it may clear when you restart the car, and it senses a change of height...the Wammer and Datatek will confirm this no doubt.

you could drive there with a door on the latch i.e. not fully closed as this will freeze the EAS system and not attempt to change heights....just be mindful of the beeps from the door open warning...!!

I have to disagree with saint, motorway and smooth dual carriageway is fine on the bump stops local roads will remove your fillings:eek:

If the leak is not too severe, it may attempt to rise when you start it if the compressor is good, however if the airbag has been leaking for some time, the compressor is probably knackered. You can freeze the suspension by removing the timer relay under the passenger seat., Safer than leaving the door unlatched, or leave the upper tailgate open, does the same thing.:)

I did think of that a t first but I thought the system would notice the relay missing and go into fault....

I understand and have used it to freeze the EAS when the vehicle isn't running, but thought it might throw a hissy fit if removed and then the vehicle started...

Echo Keith - I have 2 permanant indentations on the top of my head from attempting to drive mine whilst on bumpstops with sunglasses on the top of my head! OUCH! :drama: It's a killer and utterly unforgiving over pot holes.....

Alternatively if got time, a set of inflation valves off Ebay would make the trip easier and useful to have in the glove box later if it all goes Pete Tong on a trip :D

Drove to garage this morning with tailgate open, bit bumpy but bearable. Took hour and half to change all four bags, easier than I thought, cars lovely again. Thanks everyone.
