On the 14th March I put my P38 into storage, while I was away.I unlocked it and left the drivers door open while I removed the earth lead from the battery. Then closed the drivers door and locked it with the key.
Yesterday morning 19th May, I unlocked it with the key ,released the bonnet and left the drivers door open.I then reconnected the earth cable to the battery.Put key in ignition switch and turned on ignition, waited a few seconds, turned key to start and engine fired up immediately. No EKA code required or loss of sync.
Reset the windows ,sunroof, inputted Radio code, set clock and resynced the key fob.
EAS was on the bump stops ,but rose to Normal height within two minutes.
Pumped the tires up to pressure and drove off.

I have ten days at home ,before going back to work away from home for two months again. So will do the same again, hopefully with the same results when I return:D

I left mine in a Lock up for 1 year and had a friend start it up once a month and he had no problems until the battery died. Got a new battery and fitted it started up first hit and is now back on the road again.

I do think that you should point out that your RR had the prospect of running down to Hout Bay along Victoria Rd. It might not have been so enthusiastic if the prospect was the Chertsey interchange during rush hour in the rain.

Strange it did not need a recode?
But while ever it works, be happy and use it :)
Not strange....

The EKA is only used in the event the Immobiliser can't sync with the remote fob due to dmage or a flat remote battery.

If the remote battery is fine and it worked before the car battery was disconnected, there should be little reason for it not to work on reconnection....

The only time an EKA could be requested would be if when reconnecting the battery, there was hesitation on reconnection causing electrical spikes which have a habit of messing with things...!!!

You are right,a trip to Hout Bay and then along the coast to Cape Point is an enjoyable drive, often done by the RR.Although when it was in the UK it did brave the Chertsey interchange and the M4 into London on many an occasion!

I believe it makes a difference when the battery is disconnected, whether the RR has the alarm and immobilizer set or not.If I had locked the vehicle with the fob and then removed the battery earth lead,I would have had to enter EKA code when reconnecting the battery.
The fob of course loses sync when you remove its battery and/or when the vehicle battery is disconnected.A fob cannot be resynced when the vehicle is in an alarmed state.

As mine was in a lock up i didnt lock the door and told my riend not to lock it up or he might have had problems getting in if the battery went flat. just had to reset windows and sunroof. Its a diesel by the way

I think JohnP38 has it right. I have had the battery off both of mine more times than I care to count and have never had to enter an EKA code once. Trouble starts when the battery goes flat when the alarm set.

Never had a problem taking batteries on and off either of mine, the spares dog only rarely has a battery fitted and it has never failed to work correctly:).
