Well after 3 problem free years I had a bit of a shock!
'96 P38 2.5 DSE
Used to get the flat battery problems, a couple of days non-use & she was dead.
Did the usual, upgraded the RF reciever, checked for BECM going to sleep etc.
Ended up fitting a 1000 ah cold-crank battery & no more probs until now!!
She was running before I let go of the key
Went out, remote wouldn't unlock, eh? Key in, unlock, but only driver-door,
key in ign. ZILCH!! No lights on dash at all, not even a glimmer.
BORROCKS, Had a rummage & pulled out the booster-pack,
WHAM, it fired straight up, ran perfect, no re-sync, no messages, just a dead radio, which I re-coded, had a look at the charge-window on the battery & it was black, should be green, ran it around for a few miles, right as rain again.
Question 1 : it was totally dead, even the radio lost its code, so why no re-sync of the key (i'm glad about that 'cos it was a bugger to do last time)
Question 2: WTF caused it? as its ok again (at the moment)
I wonder if there's a relay somewhere that 'stuck' open & allowed the battery drain.
Woja fink?
