Good bye freelander

Was my last day owning the hippo. Loved it while was servin me in the mountains but hated it for cost me a nation in serious repairs like engine, ird, diff vc, cv etc.
Thank you all for the support and advices hope you enjoy your trucks.
I will stay close to this forum and watching ya!

nah if he's got any sense it'll be "disco or defender which should I get?"

unfortunately governments banned diesels out of the cities here so imnot gonna ask anything about diesels in the future.. And yes i like defenders and discos but don't own a gas station for feed a v8 and my pocket is bunged caused of the freelander. All i need now is a calm period with something juicy an reliable.

Good luck George I'm thinking of doin' the same when I can, but i'll go for the disco I think. Anyone want a 2000 'w' diesel Hippo? I won't say how much 'cause Sirus starts bein' insulting. Or anyone insane enough to consider a swap for a 300 Tdi with no rust in the floor?

Cheers Sirus I saw the light a long time ago and I've had a few defenders as well. Just fell for the Hippo as I know the engine is great and the mpg appealed. It's not a bad car , for a rover, but its not a Landrover. The thing is Discos are so cheap and as long as its a 300 Tdi they work the same as my current Defender except for the creature comforts. Never driven one though, i can stand slow but I hear they role something chronic?

We are all allowed our little mad moments, just make sure it never happens again

I will start looking for a nice 300 Tdi after Crimbo and look to trade the Hippo in.

The 300 tdi isn't that slow. If you don't like rolling on corners get a TD5 with ACE - it cuts the roll like magic but costs when it goes wrong. My TD5 is much more reliable than my TDi300 was and faster and comfier - wouldn't go back. And they are getting cheap. But that said they aren't that easy to repair and there's lots of expensive electronic crap that CAN go wrong.

Nail on head Pastmaster. Its the electrickery I want to avoid.

Good luck to any government who thinks thats gonna work. This latest attack on diesels is largly an excersize in social engineering and has nothing to do with emisions. Diesels always have been cleaner than their petrol counterparts, mind you it stops people talking about brexit dont it!!!!!!

As for emisions, around 30 per cent of atmospheric emissions come from vehicular traffic, and of that around 11 per cent comes from cars! Then theres the plan to ban all petrol and diesel vehicles from the roads by 2040! What!!!! Someone has pressed the stupid button!

Totally! Have just got a free ander
And so obviously made a beeline for any forums that might be out there. Having had bad experiences with bmws for the last few years, the landy forums seem like a breath of fresh air.

Not meaning to contradict you or anything but I wasn' sure if it was a 10 year old thread or a problem with the website as I didn' think anything had been said about banning diesels from town centers 10 years ago!

And as regard emissions, I do feel strongly. Look at the tons of evidence combined with various political agendas and it doesn' take a genius to work out that we are all being hoodwinked and lied to.
