Hi All,

As I’m slowly bringing my P38 back from the dead (I saved it from a junk yard). I’m seriously considering undoing the coil spring conversion and going back to the original air suspension set up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Specifically:

are there any components that should plan on replacing other than the air springs and struts?

What was likely done to disable the compressor?

Do I need to buy a nanocom to complete this job? I have a decent Land Rover specific diagnostic tool for general use.

Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise

What's still there? Compressor, valve block, dryer, air lines, height sensors?
Hi, all the system components are still in place (haven’t checked the lines). I don’t know their condition though. The truck has been on springs long enough that the shocks are worn, so I’m assuming the EAS system has been non-functioning for a long time

The lines aren't a big issue, they are only 6mm OD nylon air line, easily available . I would buy new springs, dampers and a rebuild kits for the valve block and compressor, new dessicant (sp) for the dryer. You can run the compressor regardless to check output pressure but a rebuild kit for that is worth keeping in stock, ditto the valve block kit. 4 x shrader valves to pump the springs up manually if you run into issues with the other components so the car isn't off the road.

No need for a Nanocom for the EAS, the free EAS software from RSW is better, just need a cable which you can buy on Ebay or I can supply. It's a bit expensive to supply from France post Brexit so Ebay is your best bet. I can also supply a CD with the workshop manual RAVE, my airbag replacement guide and some other info.
If replacing the shocks, take care the fronts are longer than the rears. Go for OEM as they give the best ride.

Keith, there's two versions. One uses jumpers on the EAS ECU, and the other kit plugs into the BECM !!. Either way thye are a bodge that needs to be undone.
