Theyre not expensive and not hard to change. Keep a set at home. Especially with the coming winter

That's if u are not unlucky ... they used to stuck in the head or crack and leaving theirs extremity within.... happened to me... i was forced to take the head off for one.

its one of them things that dont get touched unless the beast wont start one morning... ive not changed either the disco 200 tdi or the fourtrak ones but the renault megane seemed to need them every couple of winters

Just leave them until it doesn't start they aren't a servicable part it not necessary to change them tegu wry.

you can test the quite easy with jump leads once removed negative clamp on threaded part that screws in head positive touching end wire fastens to,they should glow dull red quickly if good

When ye come to put them back in, use a wee smear of copper grease

Hello glow plug experts. Here's the thing. I've got a series 111 converted to a 15J probably from a FX-4 taxi. Checking the glow plugs because of longer starting and find - three of one type and one of another! The three are really old by the look of them, no markings visible, one has failed, one looks cracked and the other has a scar. The fourth one, in cylinder 2 from the front is a Champion CH63, the normal fit for a 2.5 N/A. However, this type won't go in the other cylinders! The ones that do have a narrower probe that is knotched. I'm wondering if they are CAV originals. I'm searching around for replacements but the "specialists" seem to have never heard of a 15J. Anyone out there hit this problem before?
