My wifes Freelander 2 (95K miles) has been running superbly but its been taking its time starting up first thing in the really cold weather (3 deg.C and below). Usually it will fire up in about 1- 1.5 secs. but on the really cold mornings it can take abot 4-5 secs and then very lumpy running for the first few minutes with a lot of diesel clatter. I suspect some or all of the glow plugs maybe suspect, does anyone have any views ??
Does any one know whether these can be tested in situ via the ODB2 socket or other method ? I gather they are buried deep under the inlet manifold so not too easy to do a continuity test on them without stripping half the engine ancilliaries away. Has anyone had glow plug experiences with this engine including the effort to replace them ?
