Guys,

Trying to order a clutch slave cylinder for a 110 Defender, 1998 on an R plate. Engine is a 300tdi. Not near the vehicle but need it for the weekend. Paddock say that they must have a gearbox number - is there no other way of telling by the age of the vehicle. My experience of these things is that there might be an overlap period of a few months but given that there are only two choices of parts is there no way of telling??

Thanks,

Jon

For anyone reading this - I couldn't find the number on the gearbox but spoke to Paddock spares and they told me that at that age it was certainly the later part. I've fitted the later part and it is correct and works fine.

Thanks,

Jon

gearboxes built to fit 300tdi after td5 came out were buit for replacement of faulty boxes or areas were 300 was still used but not on general sale here, would be later suffix k and then L but you wouldnt find too many out there ,slave cylinders will fit any box so that fact you can bolt it on and it works doesnt necessary mean its the correct one
