Well, after my rebuild was going so well for a while now, this was bound to happen at some point, wasn't it?
Yes, problems have finally appeared. I can't select 3rd or 4th gear without the use of a hammer. 1st and 2nd works fine, a really nice shift. But 3rd and 4th isn't happening. I took the selector housing back off to find that there was about .3cm of free travel on the 3rd/4th synchro hub, is this normal?

Have you had the box to bits? Reason I ask synchro hub only goes in one way.
Would think there is some play on synchro hub as the brass outer does not want to be driven by 4th side when selecting 3rd gear and vis versa

Yea, it's been in pieces.... is there any way to tell which way goes in which?

I done did it. Yep, got the synchro round the correct way now, but why i couldn't select 3rd or 4th was a different issue: I thought the copper thingy that went all the way around the selector casing was a gasket: but no, it is in fact some form of spacer to stop the selector shafts binding on either sides of the casing. Does anyone know where i can find me another copper thingy?

not sure what you mean ,any more details

What series box is it never seen anything between selector top and gearbox they are machined as a pair and should have corresponding numbers stamped on edge by front on casing and selector top..

Well i got me a mismatched pair then, when i took the selector top off, there was a copper spacer in between the 2 pieces, if it wasn't there, the selector shafts would bind between the 2 casings

LOL why is it I only find out they a machined as a pair a week after I buy one to replace a slightly battered one on mine.
