Garage Bulkhead replacement?

Have you got the bulkhead already? Cheaper to find one yourself then have it painted/ protected or galvanised then have it fitted.
Just replaced mine on 200tdi, big job and if ever I have to do another ill do it myself.
If your getting a garage to do it get a price for the job, not what they charge an hour or could run up a big bill, also budget for chassis welding under bulkhead, other parts like door hinge spacers proberbly worn, heater cables ( mine were past it) all new clips/ nuts/ bolts etc, replaced my windscreen and rubber, gearbox tunnel covers proberbly rotten that bolt to bulkhead, expensive new so find on eBay etc, speedo cable? Mine was shot, basically be prepared to have to replace other parts as it's not as straight forward as it looks.

Not gone one already, I know a lot of garages get funny about the customer supplying parts!

The only quote I've managed to get so far was to supply and fit a new bulkhead, and was £1500...

Do you mind if I ask how much yours cost?

Proberbly around £2k mate, that includes cost of bulkhead but not defo on that as it was a total rebuild with galvanised chassis, paid £250 for my mint bulkhead then another £100 to have it re seem sealed, painted and stone chipped, a garage would charge you £1k for bulkhead alone I'm sure

i'd say used, fixed, and galved

Agree with this, the bulkhead I got had a little surface rust which was easily sorted, re seam sealed then primed and painted and stone chipped, would have had it galvanised but time was against me.
New is costly with the labour added and there no benefit over a good used one

bring it down for me to see.
If it needs changing, (Ive repaired some real bad uns so dont panic too much) any more than two days is slow if claiming to be a lr garage

I'd have to get it trailered down to you Clive, as its now out of T&T...

I think we'll put it in storage for a couple of months and save up some cash, as I think once it starts coming apart it will end up needing more work!

The top corners are gone, and the drivers footwell at least has seen better days!
