I've just picked up a 88 90 as a bit of a project and I'm having some issues with the electrics. The headlights, indicators, horn, fuel gauge, wipers and brake lights don't work too well. The brake lights don't work at all but I believe that is down to the switch.

Basically they only work when I wiggle the fuses. Is it just a case of finding a new fuse box and fitting it?

Id try cleaning up the connections first. Those fuse boxes are really just a pair of spade connectors on each fuse.

Pull the fuse out and see if you can clean up the connectors and the fuse terminals. A bit of emery paper and some connection cleaner might do it. Maybe disconnect the battery before you do this though, and wait for it to dry before you re connect.

One thing to be careful of, is that when you push the fuses back in, they may just push the connectors out of the back of the fuse box, rather than allow you to push the fuse in correctly. So you might need to hold the back of each connector when you push them in.

Thanks for that. I did clean up the fuses and connectors but I didn't think to try the wires at the back. I'll make sure they are all connected ok.

Edit - Just had another look now and all the wires are fine. I tried bridging the connections (with the fuse box cover screws) where the fuse should be and I got everything working. I then tried fitting new fuses I'm back to square one. It's not the fuses it must be the connector blocks. Are the available online anywhere?
