At last got the little blighter off, Breaker bar, extension & 1 3/16 socket + 3 foot metal pipe, heard it crack chuffed to bits,
Sat/sun will start to strip A-frame down, treat & paint insert new Polyurethene bushes & nuts & bolts.
then take the fulcrum bracket to work and use the press to push out the old bushes, if i can't persuade it to fall out.
Any tips guy's or should it all be straight forward??

my tip is to buy one with the ball joint already in it!
Done mine a few weeks ago, bastard of a job, ended up beating the ****e out of it in a vice.Burn the bushes out of the arms, once all the rubber has gone get a saw blade in there an cut through the metal.
Bustersbus has put up a good thread on this somewhere,do a search.
Good luck.
Terry.

agreed but i'm a notherner, got a press at work which will do the job, unless i have my weetabix later and a couple of taps it'll fall out!!
Busters Tips are full of mega tips, but mines a 19 yr old Disco, with what i beleive original fitting's.

Its a right cnut of a job. When I did mine I beat the hell out of it with everything I had. In the end I gave it to someone with a press thinking it would **** it. Because of the shape and the flange on the ball joint a press was a no go and it had to be beat out anyway. When the new one was put in it was layed on a vice and the fulcrum beat onto the ball rather than damage the new ball trying to get it in. If ever I have to do it on another landy Im buying a complete unit:)

well the ball joints out!!, Big vice, a similliar sized (old) socket, touch of heat, a sledgehammer, soaked over night,7 hard hits BINGO!!

so its been cleaned and got a coat of red lead, will follow Busters guide on fittng the new ball joint, will hopefully get the Arms & brackets off tommorow, treated painted new bushes(probably be done in the week).

Done!! feels a lot smoother ride,
Top tip ensure you jack up the front of the Rear Diff,(as Buster Recommends) or it'll never fit.
