Got a wee bit of a fuel tank problem and hoping that the wise ones will be able to help.

Filled up yesterday and when I got home there was diesel dripping from the rear nearside. When I say dripping I mean it had obviously been ****ing out as the chassis rail and rear silencer were soaked.

Immediate thought was a crack in the fuel return but having taken up the inspection panel, the silt surrounding the sender unit is nice and try.

Sectretly hoping that it might a problem with the seal around the breather pipe, but I'm kind of resolved to it being a puncture or split in the top of the tank. If I press gently on the sender unit the tank 'sighs'.

So assuming worse case scenario, is it possible to repair the tank? Subject to how bad it might be of course. Otherwise i may well be posting in the 'wanted' section.

Secondly, is there anyone in the Reading area with a bunch of jerry cans they can lend me to siphon the fuel into so I can drop the tank?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Cheers all

For the 1993 to 1998MY Land Rover issued a safety recall on the tanks to check for splitting/cracks, if there was a problem the tank was replaced FOC that was back in 2005, looks like yours missed that check :(
As the tank is plastic so difficult to repair safely it should be replaced I would think.

Thanks Discool. Think it will be a replacement tank in the end.

Immediate problem is not having enough saucepans to drain the fuel into ;)

I have a 200tdi fool tank spare if you want it?

Thanks TMHM but have a replacement tank sorted now.

Any chance you've got any other 200 spares? Specifically an air filter assembly.
