Hi all just found this site and wondering if anyone can help me out!:)
Just in the the middle of servicing my freelander done the oil and air filter and changed the oil no probs!
Just ready to tackle the fuel filter but rain stopped play!
Am i right in thinking its under the rear wheel arch(drivers side) any tips on carrying this out correctly without to much hassle! ;)
Just concerned when i take the old one off dont want fuel peeing out everywhere(cost a bloody fortune these days!)
Is there a hand pump(primer i think its called) for refilling the new filter or is it done via the gas pedal!!!!!
Please excuse my lack of knowledge but i'm just being a bit cautious if its a tricky job i'll get my mate to do it but wouldn't mind having a go myself i like to have a go!!!!:D

Cheers for any help/hints

The fuel filter on my 2005 TD4 is located under a metal brkt in front of the o/s/r wheel. I have still to change mine but the three bolts that fasten the brkt to the underside look as though they could break off when you try to remove them, a good soaking with penetrating oil should help. I have also read that removing the filter from its housing can be difficult as it can seize in place.

Good advice on soaking the bolts first.

Its easy enough to do, remove the wheel, undo the bolts and lift the assembly down, the connections to the filter are released by pushing in the coloured tabs on the connector and pulling the pipe off, you will get some diesel running out of the old filter.

When the job is complete, turn on the ignition and allow the pump to run until it stops before starting the engine.
