I have a 2005, '55' plate TD4.

Will it have an FBH? I have never heard any noise in a morning, and it has been VERY cold recently.

If it does, how can I make it work?

Should I buy one of these remote controls available on ebay, and if so, how do I programme it to work with my FBH?

Thank you all, in anticipation.

not all freelanders had them fitted. look under the front bumper just in front of the front passenger wheel, should see an exhaust there if you have one fitted.

If you haven't got one fitted, there is no point in buying the remote, you won't be able to make it work with something that isn't there.

Thanks Optimus - though it says in the manual that it is a standard feature...

get your head in the front passenger wheelarch look toward the front of the car and you should see about 2inches of 1 inch diameter silver pipe sticking through the wheelarch liner. if you can see it time to start investigating why its not working? mine fired up today and it was 9 degrees!!!

I think your 2005 TD4 should have a fbh.

After you've confirmed that it does - perhaps it's a good idea to reset it - in case it has had a flame-out at some time, which would disable it.

Pull fuse 5 in the engine-bay fuse box - wait 5 minutes then replace - check the fuse is OK as that may have actually been the problem.

Mine often starts up at this time of year even if the temp is not as low as 5 degrees C. The sensor is not that precise, but with the weather we've all had recently yours should have started up sometimes.

Let's know how you get on.

Good luck,

Singvogel.

Not sure when LR stopped the FBH on the Freelander but my October 2005 definitely does not have one unless it's hiding somewhere, just pleased it's got heated front seats.

Hi Nick, do you have a relay in the extreme bottom left of the passenger compartment fusebox or is that location empty? LR dropped the FBH as a winter pack option in favor of the PTC heater.
