about 1500 miles after I had the cam belt replaced on my v6 the sprocket failed:

will never know if something was dodgy with cam belt job or whether would have failed anyway but I wish I'd never swapped the belt - engine was irrepairable so my lovely v6 premium went to the breakers and I had to fork out plenty for a td4 :(

yeah that was my dad hippo - car was mine though - he normally posts as he knows a lot more about cars and engines than me - probably explains why I bought a v6 and he got a td4 !!

Nice ta meet ya. Am shorry for yer sad loss. I have a v6 too. Did the belt meself and so far ok for 10k miles. Seems it's a bit of a risk to do. No wonder so many garages refused to do mine. Even lr independents.

it was not that hard to do so long as you have loads of tipex
ony need 2 new bolts for rear cam belts front cam shaft seals can be used again if your carefull removing them bigest head ache was removing inlet manifold but now i know it was easy remove 4 bolts at the front and their are 2 m6 on rubbers at the rear then ease it of their are 4 o rings which make it a bit sticky all electrics are easy

New bolts all round on mine when I did it. Some of the bolts are special. Others like the tensioner... well you take your chances. Many reuse stuff but you takes yer chances.
