freelander sat nav problem
Hi everyone, i am new to landyzone.
Could some one help me with this problem.

I have a freelander 1 2006 and the sat nav has gone funny - the directional arrow moves all over the place, i can put an address in and it gives directions which do not corerspond to the road layout at all and i seem to be stuck somewhere in Liverpool. Sometimes the display simply reads "off road"

I contacted a landrover dealer and they want £125 to just look at it ! - I'm sure there must be a cheaper solution.

I'd be really grateful if someone could help with advice.

Naj

The FL Satnav has a homing setting when nicked - it wants to go home.... lol
Sorry - couldn't resist...
what ever it is - it ain't gonna be cheap!

I would suggest getting a tomtom or garmin as much cheaper than the amount wanted by LR to look at it, and better than the built in unit

how many satellities are showing when you press the * button ?

if none, do a reset and watch for "antenna fault" as it reboots - if you get this message I would suggest a new aerial for about a tenner.

Take out your front interior light & check to make sure the connector is tight on the bottom of the antena base. If it is tight unscrew it & have a look at the two connections (one for the sat nav one for the radio) make sure their aren't any bits that have broken off, about a year ago mine had a little pin broken off , I just stuffed the connector with tin foil & it's worked ever since. If all is OK in the connector pop out the head unit (you will need the special release tool or you could have a word with your local car thief, theres bound to be one close by) & have a check of the connections on the back of the head unit. :)

Hi naj, :)

How did you get on with fixing the sat nav?

I see that you only got a few responses and even less sensible ones.
LZ is like that that I'm afraid.

No one even said :welcome2:
Let me say it again welcome :welcome2:

In between all the **** taking you will eventually find lots of help and advice here - I know I have.

I have the same Becker sat nav and it hasn't worked in yonks

I've got some time off coming and am going to give it a go - starting with the roof Ariel - did you have any success at all?
