Hi, I'm still quite new to this so if I miss anything out please let me know, basically have a y reg freelander 1.8 petrol (old k series engine), it ran perfect until it ran out of fuel put more fuel in it it ran for all of 5 mins perfectly then wouldn't start finally after cranking for along time it finally fires up and runs fine on idle but when I try to use the accelerator in neutral or try to drive it it cuts out, if I use the accelerator slowly it will rev up to red line. Please help any comments would be appreciated thanks

My best suggestion would be that by running out of fuel you have sucked a load of gunge / cr*p from the bottom of the tank and now the fuel filter is choked up or partially blocked.

Before you try doing anything else more expensive, I would be simply replacing the filter.

Good luck.

Singvogel.

in addition you could try pressing the fuel cut off just to check it isn't acting up, but probly blocked fuel filter

WFL100160 fuel filter, it fits inside the fuel pump in the tank.

and here's the fuel cut off switch with location under the bonnet.

Thanks for all the suggestions I'll try a fuel filter on Monday do I need to drop the tank or can u get to it under the seats thanks again

Hi, thanks for all the response I have got the fuel filter now I forgot to
Mention it was a 3 door and I can't seem to remove the seats any tips on how to remove them to get to the filter inside the tank ?? Thanks again

there is a pull handel on the seat back so you tilt if forward and then forward again then undo the carpet and then there is a metal round cover undo that and you will see the pump take the tubes out by ressing either side and pull no to hard though then knock the ring round aniti clockwise like undoing a jar lid hope this helps
