My problem is that after starting the engine all three warning lights remain on continually, the TC, ABS & HDC but I seem to be able to drive around o/k. However just the other day my son jumped in and started pushing the rear tailgate window button and the window operated down but only half way and no attempts to close it would work, it is still in this position.
When the button is operated it does a little movement up(about 2cm) then goes down to its original half way open position ( two beeps are heard each time the switch is pressed)
The three warning lights remaining on during all this, any ideas please? my final question is,could this window problem be linked to the warning lights problem and/ or the CCU.

I have tried looking for relative threads but have not found a suitable one for this problem

first try the back window with the key in the door put it in and turn clock wise if that does not bring the window up then you probably have a problem with the wires in the door the 3 amigos as they are called can be several things one is the gravity sensor under the centre console next to the hand brake.

Search for re calibration.......... For the back window.
Many thanks guys for the replies. I've tried the key in the tailgate lock bit, but the window does the same as when pushing the front panel switch. I have also checked the motion switch by the handbrake and this seems in order. Oh I forgot to mention that I had fitted a new offside handbrake cable prior to all this window problem and ask are the Right & Left cables the same length and interchangeable.
A month previously I fitted a replacement cable to the Left nearside but the cable received from supplier was for the Right offside so I just swiveled the cable sheath clamp brackets, however with the fitting of the replacement Right offside I now have different lengths arriving at the handbrake rear catchment bar?. I take the point about the CCU will try the re-calibrating of this, I think there is some help on another thread about this procedure.

One final point ,I also own 3dr XDi 2000 in which the bat had gone flat so I linked up the TD4 battery(engine running) to get it started, could this have brought on this window problem by confusing the CCU.
I have disconnected the battery waited for 5 mins absolutely no change in the window position it does not go to fully down. Tried to get onto CCU using the procedure recommended on a thread here, no joy at all. So my question is, how on earth would I re-calibrate the CCU with the rear window stuck in the half up/half down position?

The wires on the lift mechanism might have frayed and jammed.
Take the door panel off and have a look.

Is our rear wiper working ok? is it resting off the glass and on the rubber strip at the bottom as it should? ...if not try taking the rear wiper fuse out to disable it - then see if the tailgate glass recalibrates and operates as it should.

Test for 12v at the motor connector while the up then down button is being pressed for a few seconds, just to eliminate motor and lift mechanism.
Check continuity to earth as well.
There is a dual relay for the window fitted by the offside rear suspension strut, see if you can hear that operating and holding when the button is pressed.

if you have had new hand break cables I would check that gravity switch again as you may have disturbed it pull it off and put it back on it looks like a relay. I replaced the handbrake cables once and did the same thing.

Sorry for the delay in getting back with this thread(health probs)
Bloody spot on LONGDOG removed the window regulator completely and yes, the longest cable to the nearside slider had indeed frayed and got mangled and stuck around the top plastic guide wheel. Other two cables looked o/k so I replaced cable with part of new kit from OKZAM Ltd on ebay.
After refitting the regulator to the tailgate and connected the window to the clamps everything seemed honkydory until I tried to operate the window from the switch.

;)At this the window would only go half way up and stop, the switch would need operating again and the window would go up the final half and then stop at the set-down position(about 2" from the top), which normally allows the tailgate to be opened by the hand lever.
The switch had to be operated again for the window to close completely.

When opening the tailgate door the window does not stop at the set-down position but continues to go completely down to fully open.

Removal of the battery neg and re-program of the CCU does not change this situation at all, any ideas please?

Haven't got round to sorting the 3 amigoes problem yet, that's for later!
