Freelander high clutch pedal

Hi all..we have a 2000 20l diesel freelander. I put the clutch in and something broke so the pedal is now very high. If you look under the dash you can push the pedal down and put the pin back in the hole which works but have to hold clutch down a bit so it doesn't come out again..should the pin be held in somehow within the hole or could the spring on the pedal be stretched. Would love to see videos of the repair..thank you.

If it is the Di freelander ( not td4), you have an hydraulic system, with the slave connected by a cable to the cutch.

In that system, if the pedal is too high, the slave braket holder can be broken, or worst internal parts of the clutch part is brocken.

It's a td4 mate

So certaintly the clutch need to be done.
Spring on the pedal are only here to help the pedal to return to its place. The hydraulic system make the pedal returning to its place.

The brass coloured pin goes in the cylinder to engage the clutch but then comes out if you don't ride the clutch..is there a sleeve that goes into the cylinder to secure the pin? I have seen some inserts on parts sites..any comments appreciated

Looks like cylinder is leaking and making a mess.
The pushrod fits into the master cylinder and the shaped end fits into a retaining clip that is presumably still inside the cylinder or broken.

It is a spring steel sleeve that holds the piece that has come out.

Your best bet is a new master cylinder and then just swap over the pipe which comes with the unit to a quick release connector near the gearbox.

The master simply twists out of the bulkhead.

New master cylinder is needed, put a LR or a LUK one, others doesn’t last at least a year.
