Hi there,

I replaced the master and slave cylinder on my 1.8 2005 FL1 and all seems to have gone okay, however the pedal is now behaving strangely, the clutch works fine, but the pedal seems to come up stop and then sometimes clicks a further couple of centimetres. when i'm driving and changing gears its almost as if the pedal sticks and then springs up a little more. if i look under the dash the master cylinder rod is connected but when the pedal comes up to the end of the travel i can pull it up again with a click. not sure if i've displaced something on the pedal or maybe i pulled it up too far when pushing the master cylinder into the firewall from behind. does anyone have a reference photo of the clutch pedal spring that i can check to see if i have mucked something up down there.

cheers in advance

Steve

Hi,

Check the slave metal braket, sometimes it breaks.
Also you need to put quality parts for clutch slave and master. from Luk and nothing else.

i have the new bracket but couldn't release the bolts from the top of the engine so waiting for a good day to get the undertray off and try from below for more leverage. and they are soaking in bulldog BDX to try and release them. its definitely the pedal end that is behaving weirdly, seems to get to the end of the travel then pops up further.
