Hi there after starting all lights come on to test system then go out the ABS Light comes on and then goes out after moving off. Then the Amber HDC Light showing landrover on incline comes on and stays on. Hdc has not been selected and the light stays on even when driving on clear roads with no snow on.Drove down motorway light stayed on entire 15 mile journey ?

won't be brake light switch then.

check the wires to the hdc switch under the gearstick gaiter

Hi further to the above if I select HDC while the amber ABS is on the green landy comes on and functions as should be If select HDC after amber ABS goes out then the amber landy comes on and no green landy ?

Beginning to think this could be a problem with the throttle body or a sticking throttle since it's a 1.8k series.

Check that you have plenty of free play in the throttle cable and/or clean throttle body, make sure it returns correctly. If engine revs don't agree with throttle position sensor signal it will light hdc warning.

Yes I know this post is 8 months late but been having the same problem on my Freelander Sport Automatic. The problem has been me:doh: cos I have not been putting it in Drive correctly. I have overshot Drive and half way put it into fourth. The light has come on and stays on until the end of the journey. After switching off the engine the light does not come on again. Have had the car 4 months and only in the last fortnight noticed I have been a wally. Still I feel better now. Insults appreciated:)

Hello all. Newbie to the site I'm afraid. Anyhow, recently bought a 2000 1.8 freeloader as a bit of a project. Ie drivers lock needed replacing, needed a uj and a prop bearing and a bloody good clean. The other thing was the amber HDC light is constantly on. Luckily I bought the car dirt cheap. So far I have replaced the brakelight switch, replaced the TPS and re-wired the HDC switch was was already bodged with snap locks (hate the things) but the problem persists. There are no fault codes on the car according to any of my diagnostic equipment and according to a garage where the PO took it. ABS works fine, light goes out etc. The TC light is not on. The engine does sometimes rev slightly high but only on odd occasions and fixable with a little touch of the throttle.

Any ideas on what I could be needing to look at next? As far as I am aware I have looked at almost everything linked to it.

Cheers and much thanks in advance.

Oh and HELLO!!! :dnfnoob:

update. changed the throttle body for a 2nd hand one and tried the tps from this one and the old one but still no luck. I am properly stumped with this. it would be all well and good if it brought up a fault code but nothing. Tempted just to remove the bulb. But a quick one. would low brake pads bring the light on. one pair are almost metal to metal which are getting changed once they arrive. I know the pads themselves dont have wires on but would the abs system pick this up? cheers again

Don't removed the bulb it's an MOT failure and will invalidate your insurance in the event they inspect your car after a crash.

Can the code readers you've used read the fault codes in the abs computer. If there is one thats where it will be.
