Hi,Is there any interlectual's out there ,who can tell me what other vehicles apart from Landrover's,the early diesel engine's are fitted in?
I just would like to prepare for the inevitable head gasket failure on my 1.8 petrol,as I intend to do a diesel conversion once this happens. As I have to keep it for at least the next three years,so any information regarding a diesel conversion would be very helpful.
Cheers.

Thank's for that fella's, i'm quite lucky,in the fact that I know a lot of people who scrap cars and take them to the crusher,so I can give them a list and see what happens.
You never know I could end up with a good diesel engine complete for about £50.00!!!
Sorted eh , many thanks.;)

Oh, save one for me!

Of course, you could end up with a right stinker for £50, but that's part of the fun, isn't it!

Cheers

Montego/maestro;)

Are you sure on that?

I know the maestro and montego had the perkins, but i thought it was a different motor to the rovers etc etc?
I could be wrong obviously.

Oh, and either way the perkins from the montys and maestros is probably THE best diesel engine ever produced.

You are right Blippie,
I could end up with a right shed but I think I've got enough mechanical aptitude and workshop space to store the donor vehicle, and then I can compression test and start it to my hearts content.
My friend's are all o.k. If it's no good ,then I just wont buy it.lol!!
I am going to start looking for a montego or maestro diesel over the next few week's and see what turns up.
many thank's anyway,I really appreciate the help.

I run an SI diesel Ozzie, and its a little cracker, not the quietest on the market, but a good motor, i t dont use any oil, and is very economical.

Cheer's Fredlander,
I definately am going to do the diesel conversion on mine as soon as the dreaded head gasket failure happens(which it probably will eventually !!)
I don't suppose you happen to know if I need to change the gearbox as well as the supension,do you ?
As I was told the clutch is the same, on the petrol and the early diesel's.
Cheer's

Thank's any way Fredlander, nice car by the way( I 've just seen it in the gallery). I would have liked a Black one, just could'nt find one for £3500.
Sadly it's all I had to spend.
